Operating terms
What we do
Austin Artist List is an artist discovery directory. Visitors browse for free and contact artists through their own websites or social accounts. We charge artists for a directory listing. We do not sell artwork, process artwork purchases, take a sales commission, or act as the buyer’s or artist’s agent.
The listing fee
The listing fee is $50 for 12 months from publication, with no automatic renewal. A listing includes an artwork image, the artist’s name, a short description, price and style tags, and a direct artist link. Every artist uses the same listing format. A listing is not a promise of views, inquiries, sales, or a particular position in the directory.
Submit for review first. Pay only after your submission is accepted and your private status page shows the fee, duration, and official payment link. Publication follows manual payment verification. A 12-month term begins on publication; there is no automatic renewal. The term shown when you accept payment terms applies to your listing.
Artwork transactions belong to the buyer and artist
Artists are responsible for their work, descriptions, prices, availability, authenticity claims, condition, packing, and fulfillment. Buyers and artists must agree directly on payment, taxes, commissions, delivery, insurance, returns, and refunds. Price filters are artist-provided guides, not binding quotes or inventory guarantees.
We do not inspect or authenticate artwork, guarantee its condition, insure deliveries, or provide purchase protection. We are not responsible for an artist’s sales, artwork condition, representations, or performance, or for disputes arising from a direct buyer–artist transaction, to the extent allowed by law. These terms do not exclude responsibilities or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including our responsibilities for the listing service we provide.
Delivery and personal safety
As a standard precaution for portable artwork, we suggest using an established mail or courier service instead of arranging a private home meetup. Agree in writing on packing, tracking, appropriate insurance, signature requirements, delivery costs, and who handles loss or damage. A courier does not guarantee authenticity, payment safety, or undamaged delivery.
For murals, installations, or an in-person handoff, agree on the scope and logistics in advance. Avoid publishing a home address unnecessarily; consider a staffed public location for a portable-art handoff. Verify who you are dealing with, keep records, and consider a payment method with buyer protections. See the FTC’s online-shopping guidance.
Artist eligibility and image permission
You must be an adult artist who lives, maintains a working studio, or has an ongoing hands-on art practice in Austin or a surrounding community, and be authorized to submit the work. Buyers and visitors may be anywhere. Wanting Austin customers or being willing to ship here is not, by itself, a local connection. Provide accurate contact information, images, styles, and price ranges. Do not impersonate another artist, submit stolen work, use misleading links, or post unlawful material. We review your city or area, local connection statement, and any supporting public link before acceptance. We may contact you to clarify. We do not require government ID or an exact home address. Acceptance is a directory review, not an independent certification of your location, identity, or artwork.
You retain ownership of your artwork. By submitting, you grant Austin Artist List non-exclusive permission to store, resize, crop for layout, and display the submitted image and listing information to operate and promote your listing and this directory. This permission does not transfer copyright or permit us to sell your artwork. Ask us to remove your listing to end future display; technical backups and copies shared by others may remain for a limited period or outside our control.
Changes, removals, and listing refunds
Use your private status link or the contact form to request a correction, removal, or refund. We may ask you to verify ownership before changing a listing. We may decline or remove listings that are misleading, infringe rights, break these terms, or are no longer eligible.
You may cancel for a full listing-fee refund before publication. If we collect a listing fee and cannot provide the listing, we will refund it. After publication, fees are generally non-refundable for lack of sales, views, or inquiries, except where required by law or where we fail to provide the agreed service. Refunds are reviewed and handled manually through the payment provider. Artwork refunds must be discussed with the artist and payment provider.
We may update these terms for future use. Material changes to a paid listing’s agreed duration or fee require a separate agreement; they do not silently change your existing purchase.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy art here?
You discover artists here and buy directly from them. Use “Visit artist” to reach their website or social profile.
What does the $50 buy?
A directory listing with your artwork, price and style tags, and a direct link. The current term is 12 months from publication, with no automatic renewal. There is no commission on artwork sales.
Who counts as a local artist?
Artists who live, maintain a working studio, or have an ongoing hands-on art practice in Austin or a surrounding community. Nearby towns are welcome. Tell us your city and local connection; a studio page, artist bio, or local project link can help, but a link is optional. Your connection is reviewed before payment. Shipping to Austin or wanting Austin customers alone does not qualify.
Can buyers be outside Austin?
Yes. The artists are local; the audience can be anywhere. Artists decide which places they ship to and which projects they take on. The goal is to help culture thrive locally while reaching people everywhere.
How do I get approved?
Submit your name, contact email, artist link, city, local connection, artwork image, short description, prices, and styles. Save the private status link. We review the submission, then show payment instructions there. After you pay and report payment, we verify it and publish your listing.
Will I receive an email?
There are no automated emails at this stage. Bookmark your private status page and check it for updates. Support replies may be sent manually to the email you provide.
Can everyone see my email?
No. Your registration email stays private. Your chosen artist link, artwork, name, city, description, and tags appear when your listing is published. Be mindful of contact details you place in your description or image.
How should mural artists choose a price?
Choose the bands in which you actually accept commissions. Final price depends on the project; buyers should ask you for a written quote. For sculpture and other work, use the ranges in which you currently offer work.
Can I edit my listing or leave?
Yes. Send a request from your private status page. You can also use the contact form below, including your artist name and listing reference. No artist account or public login is needed once the directory launches publicly.
Does being listed mean the artwork is verified?
No. A listing is a discovery tool. Check the artist, artwork, terms, payment protection, and delivery arrangements yourself.
Who handles damaged artwork or a sale dispute?
The buyer, artist, carrier, insurer, and payment provider, as applicable. We can review a report about a misleading listing, but we do not adjudicate artwork sales or reimburse artwork purchases.
Privacy, briefly
We store the name, email, artist link, city or area, local connection statement and supporting link, description, styles, price bands, image, permissions, submission status, and dates you provide. We also store support requests and, if paid, the listing payment reference and verification status. We do not collect payment-card or bank-account details. Venmo handles payment under its own terms.
Only approved public listing fields are shown in the directory. Registration emails, local connection statements and supporting links, review notes, payment records, private status tokens, and support messages are not published. Anyone with your private status link can see its status and send a request, so keep it private.
The service uses ChatGPT Sites hosting and its underlying Cloudflare database and image storage. Those providers may process technical access information to operate and protect the service. The site uses short-lived hashed request identifiers to limit spam, browser storage for optional drafts and saved status links, and necessary sign-in for administration. We do not add advertising trackers or sell submitted personal information.
We retain information to review submissions, provide listings and support, prevent abuse, and meet applicable recordkeeping requirements. Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion. Some transaction records or technical backups may need to be retained. Removing a public listing does not remove copies already saved by others.
